1, 2, 3 Bourbon Cocktails

Week 4 is in the books and this week we're diving into 6 Bourbon cocktails. I got a bit over-excited and included a fun technique called "fat washing". It required prepping the spirit the day before, but it's not like we don't all have time on our hands to try something new right now.

7ml Maple Syrup

Stir the Bourbon and Maple Syrup in your stirring glass to dissolve the syrup. Add the bitters and Ice and stir until chilled. Strain into your rocks glass over fresh ice, ideally a large cube. If you've got clear ice use it!

Bacon fat washed Bourbon.

Cook 4 slices of smoky Bacon in a pan to obtain 30ml of bacon fat. Add this to a 700ml of Bourbon in a wide-mouthed jar. Leave to infuse at room temperature for the rest of the day and then add to the freezer overnight.

The following day strain the solidified fat back into a bottle.

Delmarva Cocktail No. 1

Glass: Chilled Coup/ Martini

60ml Bourbon

15ml Dry Vermouth

15ml White Crème de menthe***

15ml Lemon Juice

Add all of the ingredients to your shaker and shake for 8-10 seconds.

Fine strain into a chilled coup.

***if you use Crème de Cacao you have Delmarva Cocktail No. 2

Note: When it comes to liqueurs you really get what you pay for. I've linked Giffard and Tempus Fugit bottles here as there are pretty much the best in the business. These bottles will last and you won't regret spending the extra $$. That being said if you're on a budget shop for what you can afford.

That's it for another week!

Cheers

Nick
